What reviewers found
Synthesized across the trust-weighted source mix below.
Across the reviewers we read, the Skar EVL-10 D2 is the clearest consensus pick in the value-performance bracket. Verified-purchase reviewers on Amazon back it with a 4.6 average across more than 4,200 ratings, and multiple high-trust r/CarAV threads describe Skar as "decent stuff for the price" with build quality and QC that punch above the sticker, while specifically flagging the EVL line as the brand's better effort over the cheaper SDR. The dual 2-ohm voice coil configuration is what mainstream reviewers and community posters keep coming back to, it gives installers flexibility to wire for 1-ohm or 4-ohm final loads depending on the amp.
What reviewers liked
- High-trust r/CarAV consensus rates Skar EVL as the brand's better-performing line with solid build quality for the price
- Dual 2-ohm voice coil gives flexible wiring options for 1-ohm or 4-ohm amp loads
- 4.6-star Amazon average across 4,200+ verified-purchase reviews indicates broad real-world satisfaction
- Specialist subreddit consensus says it performs especially well in a ported enclosure for low-end extension
Where it falls short
- Multiple community threads warn it sounds muddy and sluggish if underpowered relative to its 1,000W RMS rating
- r/CarAV commenters note the underlying technology is well behind premium brands like Sundown
- Requires a sizeable monoblock amp and proper enclosure, not a plug-and-play solution
- One r/subwoofer thread flags that cheaper Skar lines struggle below 40Hz, raising questions buyers should verify for their use case

The dual 2-ohm voice coil configuration is what mainstream reviewers and community posters keep coming back to, it gives installers flexibility to wire for 1-ohm or 4-ohm final loads depending on the amp. r/subwoofer commenters note the EVL works particularly well in a ported enclosure for lower-bass extension, and r/CarAV threads compare its signal-to-noise favorably against CT Sounds at the same price.
The consistent caveat, raised in r/CarAV and r/subwoofer alike, is that the EVL is rated at 1,000W RMS and genuinely wants that kind of power to come alive, underpower it and reviewers report muddy, sluggish output. Buyers treating this as a drop-in for a small amp will be disappointed.

They are 1000 RMS each and that amp only puts out 1500. You're a good 500 watts off from max potential for those subs. Not to mention that your ...
Skar is decent stuff for the price, build quality is decent and quality control is decent, the tech used is FAR away from sundown etc but we already know this.
