The community sentiment is warm but realistic. One r/ereader poster who liked it admitted the muted color mimics a cheap paperback, framing that as a feature for eye comfort and battery life rather than a flaw. An r/kobo owner's pros-and-cons list captures the consensus neatly: price and the color screen are the wins, while black-and-white reading isn't as good as on a dedicated mono reader and the screen is a little small to take full advantage of color.
The cons are the recurring color-E-Ink trade-offs plus a thin review base. The 196-review Amazon count is modest, the evidence is almost entirely community and retailer rather than independent testing, and reviewers agree plain-text readers lose a little crispness versus the Clara BW. For comics, cookbooks and covers on a budget, though, it's the consensus value color pick.

I was worried the screen would be too small for comics but it's actually great. Everything is clear and easy to read without needing to zoom in.
