What reviewers found
Synthesized across the trust-weighted source mix below.
Across the reviewers we read, the Fujifilm Instax Mini 12 is the default recommendation for most people who just want instant prints without fuss. Specialist blog danfinnen.com calls it "the best instant film camera for beginners," praising how fun and easy it is to throw in a bag for a party, and digitalcameraworld.com echoes that the slow film reveal is still an "incredibly fun experience" with simple point-and-shoot control. The close-up mode and selfie mirror come up repeatedly as practical touches for portraits.

The community signal is where the value case is cemented: r/instax and r/Polaroid threads repeatedly argue Instax film is cheaper, gives more photos per pack, and produces cleaner, more consistent colors than Polaroid, working "every time." That reliability, plus the enormous verified-purchase base (4.6 stars across more than 6,000 ratings), makes it the safest pick in the category. The honest caveat surfaced on r/instax is exposure: one widely-echoed buyer noted that "half of the pics are very dark, over or under exposed," and longtime users wish for a flash-off option the fully automatic design doesn't provide. For the money, though, the consensus is that it nails the core instant-camera experience.

I have an Instax Mini 12, i bought it new, a month ago kinda. Very nice, i like it. But half of the pics are very dark, over or under exposed.
I'm sure it's an improvement over the mini 11 and it's about time they fixed the view finder but even just a flash off option would have been ...
