The consensus
What reviewers found
Synthesized across the trust-weighted source mix below.
Across the reviewers we read, the Aurzen Roku D1R Cube stands out less for raw image quality and more for being genuinely pleasant to live with. CNET called the roughly $180 D1R Cube 'a basic, entry-level projector, but the Roku interface makes it a pleasure to use,' and that theme repeats across the sources: verified Best Buy buyers praise its compact size, color contrast and clear Dolby audio, while r/NewMaxx commenters single out the Roku TV OS as the 'lowest footprint, smoothest functioning and least buggy' of the third-party smart platforms. Community feedback is realistic about the trade-offs.
What reviewers liked
- CNET and verified Best Buy reviewers praise the smooth, easy-to-use Roku interface
- Compact and travel-friendly with clear Dolby audio for the size
- Strongest high-trust source base in this category (CNET plus Best Buy plus multiple subreddits)
Where it falls short
- Reviewers note it's only bright enough for a dark room and washes out in daylight
- r/projectors users report it's not ideal for low-latency PC gaming
- Community threads warn about potential internal dust spots over time

Community feedback is realistic about the trade-offs. A first-time buyer in r/budgetprojectors said the picture 'looked great' and setup was easy, but other threads note it's bright and vivid in a dark room yet struggles with daytime ambient light, and r/projectors users flag that PC gaming input lag, while 'not too bad,' isn't its strength. There are also recurring warnings about potential dust spots inside the optics over time.
The net consensus is that this is the most well-rounded pick in a weak field: it pairs a credible high-trust review base (CNET, Best Buy, multiple subreddits) with a streaming experience reviewers actually enjoy, rather than the clunky proprietary app systems common on cheaper rivals.

The $180 Aurzen D1R Cube is a basic, entry-level projector, but the Roku interface makes it a pleasure to use.
I loved this thing. Got it on a whim, first projector experience. For the price, thought the picture looked great, easy set up first and every ...
The apps work quick and Netflix will ply HDR content. But if your using to play game from a PC its not that great. The input lag isnt too bad.
