Synthesized across the trust-weighted source mix below.
The Bose Bass Module 500 is a wireless 10-inch cube aimed squarely at Bose soundbar owners, and the consensus reflects that narrow purpose. High-trust Crutchfield reviewers praise its 'excellent bass' alongside Bose soundbars while noting two recurring drawbacks: it's pricey, and some buyers struggled with the wireless connection. Medium-trust r/bose users add that it adds 'much needed bass' and fullness to a soundbar setup, working well in small townhouse living rooms and bedrooms.
What reviewers liked
- High-trust Crutchfield reviewers praise the bass quality with Bose soundbars
- Compact wireless cube that's easy to place and hide
- Adds clear fullness and a more cinematic feel in small rooms
Where it falls short
- High-trust and community reviewers both call it expensive for what it is
- r/bose users say it gets 'bloated and boomy' in larger rooms
- Lacks the deep extension and definition of the step-up 700 module; some wireless pairing complaints

The community is honest about the ceiling. r/bose posters say the 500 'focuses on mid-frequency bass vs lower frequencies' and 'can sound bloated and boomy in bigger spaces,' and that it 'lacks the definition, lower frequencies and attack' of the step-up 700 module. Its 4.4 Amazon average across roughly 2,000 ratings is solid but trails the standalone audiophile and home-theater subs here.
The trust-weighted takeaway: if you already own a compatible Bose soundbar and want simple wireless bass in a smaller room, reviewers find it worthwhile; for a standalone sub or a large space, the value case weakens.
- This is sound you can feel. Adding Bass Module 500 to your Bose Soundbar gives you a room-rocking, theater-like experience
- It’s thunderous bass packed into a compact, 10-inch cube with wireless connectivity, making it easy to hide, and even easier to hear
- Connects wirelessly to the Bose Soundbar (Smart & Ultra) for easier setup and placement, so you can enjoy your entertainment in minutes
- Crafted from Premium materials and measuring only 10" x 10" x 10" for easy, inconspicuous placement
Works very well in the living room of my small townhouse. I think the 700 would probably be overkill in a bedroom.
The 500 focuses on mid frequency bass vs lower frequencies and in doing so, it can sound bloated and boomy in bigger spaces.
