What reviewers found
Synthesized across the trust-weighted source mix below.
Across the reviewers we read, the SNOOZ is positioned as the modern, app-controlled answer to the Dohm. PCMag's review highlights that it uses a real internal fan rather than a speaker, delivering authentic background noise without moving meaningful air through the room. Wirecutter has separately reviewed the SNOOZ Breez (the company's fan/noise hybrid) favorably, which lends brand-level credibility even if Wirecutter's overall category pick is a different machine.
What reviewers liked
- Real internal fan delivers non-looping sound that PCMag and r/misophonia users specifically prefer
- App control with scheduling, remote volume, and timer — features the Dohm lacks
- Finer volume granularity than the Dohm per Reddit comparison threads
- Reviewers report quiet operation and solid build quality
Where it falls short
- At $99 it's roughly double the Dohm with similar core fan-sound output
- Fan-only — no rain, ocean, or lullaby options for users who want variety
- Some r/HerOneBag travel reviewers say it doesn't mask outside noise as well as expected
- App dependency is a turn-off for some Reddit commenters who want a simpler device

Reddit's r/misophonia community is particularly attentive to this unit. Commenters there specifically prefer mechanically generated noise to speaker-played loops, and several call out SNOOZ's finer volume control compared to the Dohm's two-step switch. No Sleepless Nights' detailed review echoes the same: best for people who like fan sounds, not for people who want variety.
The disagreements worth surfacing: r/HerOneBag travel discussion notes some users say it doesn't block external sounds as effectively as they'd hoped, and at $99 it's the priciest pick in this roundup. Reviewers also agree that if you don't like fan-style noise to begin with, no amount of app control will fix that.

The app-controlled Snooz White Noise Sound Machine delivers real background fan noise to help you sleep at night without actually moving any air.
We tried a Dohm I hated the sound and even the lowest volume was way too loud. I find most white/brown/pink noise to be way too high pitched.
I've had a Dohm for 25+ years and loved it. I moved to a Lectrofan because it's cheaper to run and the sounds are more customizable.
