What reviewers found
Synthesized across the trust-weighted source mix below.
For shoppers already invested in DEWALT 20V MAX batteries, the DCHT821B is the natural pick, and r/Dewalt community sentiment is broadly favorable: owners call the standard 20V trimmer 'a badass piece of kit' with a good blade that 'runs great and almost forever on a 9ah Flexvolt.' DEWALT and retailer listings cite a high-output motor rated for branches up to 3/4 inch and up to 78 minutes of runtime, and one owner who has both the 20V and 60V notes the 20V is lighter with a 5Ah pack than EGO's 56V 2.5Ah setup.
What reviewers liked
- Slots directly into the popular DEWALT 20V MAX battery ecosystem
- Positive r/Dewalt community consensus on blade quality and longevity
- Manufacturer-rated up to 78 minutes runtime and 3/4-inch cut capacity
Where it falls short
- Multiple r/Dewalt owners call it a 'battery hog' that drains packs quickly
- One community comparison says the 20V is 'a toy compared to the 60v' on blade and power
- Sold as a bare tool, and no independent testing-lab source appears in this candidate's signals

- Long Runtime - Get the job done with up to 78 minutes of runtime.
- Powerful Motor - Tackle tough branches and overgrowth up to 3/4 in. thick with a high output motor.
- Clean Cuts - Make clean, fast cuts with laser-cut, 22 in. hooked tooth blades.
- Protection From Obstacles - Help protect the transmission from damage with a friction clutch.
- Help Minimize Fatigue - Limit stress on your arms and maximize maneuverability with a design that's 39% more compact.
This new DCHT821 is another 22" model with 3/4" capcity just like the current DCHT820. Didn't see any specs on SPM, and while I believe it is brushless I can't ...
The 20v is a toy compared to the 60v. I am not sure if it's better because of more power, but the blades are far superior to the 20v. It's no contest.
