Are '2-person' hammocks really for two people?

Mostly no. Hammock-camping community threads we read repeatedly point out that a 'double' rating typically just means more fabric width for a single sleeper to lie diagonally. Two adults can sit together briefly, but sleeping two is uncomfortable and stresses the suspension.
