Are cheaper non-LEGO building brick sets worth it for kids?

Several candidates in the source pool are clone brands marketed for adults rather than genuine LEGO sets for kids, and they carry only a handful of reviews with no independent testing or community discussion. We did not rank them; the signal base is too thin to recommend them for children against established LEGO sets.
