Are compact 8x25 or 10x25 binoculars bright enough?

Reviewers note that 25mm objectives produce a small exit pupil (around 2.5mm at 10x), which makes them harder to use in low light or from a moving vehicle. They're excellent for daytime hiking, travel, and stadium use, but a 42mm objective is preferred for dawn/dusk wildlife viewing.
