Are round coffee tables better for small spaces?

Community consensus on r/InteriorDesign and r/femalelivingspace says round or oval tables work better when sofas have hard edges or when foot traffic is tight, because there are no corners to bump into. Rectangular tables still win on usable surface area per footprint.
