Do bed canopies actually keep mosquitoes out?

Fine-mesh nets (around 256–300 holes per square inch) marketed as mosquito nets do block mosquitoes if the netting is fully tucked under the mattress or sealed at the bottom. Purely decorative four-poster drapes with open corners do not — buyers should look specifically for a fully enclosed design with a sewn-in bottom or elastic skirt.
