Do erasable pens really erase completely?

The FriXion line uses thermo-sensitive ink that turns transparent when friction (heat) is applied, rather than physically removing pigment from the page. Reviewers across r/pens and r/BasicBulletJournals repeatedly note that the ink is still technically on the paper and can reappear if the page gets cold, so the visual erase is excellent but the chemistry is heat-based, not abrasive.
