Do I need a brush to use Proraso or Taylor of Old Bond Street?

A brush is strongly recommended for both. Wet-shaving communities note Proraso's tube cream can be face-lathered with fingers in a pinch, but Taylor of Old Bond Street and traditional pucks like Proraso's tub really need a brush to develop their lather and stretch the product.
