Do I need a gas or electric wood chipper?
Reviewer consensus
Across the reviewers we read, the dividing line is branch diameter and volume. Specialist-subreddit consensus on r/composting and r/landscaping is that 15-amp electric units are fine for twigs and branches under about 1 inch (despite 1.7–1.8" marketing claims) but jam easily on anything bent or forked. For branches up to 3 inches or routine yard cleanup on a larger lot, gas-powered 7HP chipper/shredders are the consistent recommendation.
