Do I need a UV sterilizer built into my filter?

Reviewers are split. UV is genuinely useful for green-water algae blooms and pathogen control, but specialist forum threads note that integrated UV bulbs are often underpowered relative to standalone units, and bulbs need annual replacement. Most aquarists in the threads we read view UV as a useful add-on, not a requirement.
