Does thread count matter?

Mainstream reviewers and bedding-subreddit posters broadly agree that thread count is overhyped past about 300–400, and that fiber quality and weave matter much more. Inflated 1,500–1,800 thread-count claims are widely treated as marketing rather than a meaningful quality signal.
