How far should bear spray reach?

Across the bear-specific products we reviewed, listed ranges run from about 30 feet (UDAP) to 40 feet (SABRE Frontiersman MAX, Griz Guard) and up to 44 feet (Counter Assault's 10.2 oz canister). Longer range buys reaction time, but spray time and a consistent fog pattern matter just as much, so don't choose on range alone.
