How much capacity do I actually need?

The pool spans roughly 20oz/600ml up to 1L/34oz. For day hikes and travel, a 600ml–700ml bottle balances weight and capacity; for longer outings between refills, a 1L option reduces stops. Larger collapsible bottles weigh almost nothing more when empty, so capacity is mostly about fill-up frequency.
