Is a hood worth it on a flat-top griddle?

Specialist subreddit threads on r/blackstonegriddle repeatedly say yes: a hood lets the griddle function more like an oven for melting cheese, steaming veggies, and finishing thicker cuts, and it keeps moisture and debris off the cooking surface between cooks. The trade-off is added cost and a bulkier footprint.
