Should I buy into a new battery platform just for a circular saw?

Most buyers shouldn't. The strongest argument across tool-community threads is platform consistency: if you already own DeWalt, Milwaukee, or Worx batteries, stay on that platform unless the saw you want is dramatically better. Standalone off-brand saws that ship with proprietary batteries are usually a worse long-term value than a bare-tool purchase on a platform you already own.
