What age should I start with crayons vs. markers vs. paint?

Jumbo or chunky crayons typically work from around 12–18 months because they're easier for a fist grip and harder to break. Washable markers and spill-proof paint sets are generally marketed for ages 3+. Airbrush-style kits and large deluxe sets skew to ages 6+ because they involve more parts and finer motor control.
