What CFM do I need for woodworking dust collection?
Reviewer consensus
Air volume (CFM) matters more than raw horsepower for capturing chips at the tool. Smaller hobby tools can be served by a shop vac with a cyclone separator, while stationary equipment generally benefits from a higher-CFM collector. The WEN DC1300 is rated at 1,300 CFM, the largest mover in this pool; shop-vac-based cyclone setups move far less but are easier to position.
