What color temperature is best for a work light?

Most jobsite lights run 5000–6500K (daylight white) for maximum perceived brightness and color contrast. For finish carpentry, painting, or anything where color accuracy matters, a 4000K or tunable model with higher CRI is preferable, though most budget work lights don't publish CRI figures.
