What counts as an ultralight backpack?

In the broadest sense, 'ultralight' covers any pack engineered to minimize weight, but in this pool it mostly means packable, frameless daypacks that fold into their own pocket. True ultralight thru-hiking packs (Dyneema/DCF frame packs from specialist brands) are a separate category and were not represented in the candidate data we synthesized.
