What CRI should I look for in a task lamp?

CRI (Color Rendering Index) measures how accurately a light source renders colors compared to natural daylight. For general office work, CRI 80+ is acceptable. For design, makeup, painting, nail work, or photo editing, look for CRI 90+ — and ideally CRI 95+. Several lamps in our pool advertise CRI 95+ or 97+, which the r/minipainting and r/fountainpens communities specifically call out as worth the upgrade.
