What is the difference between a cleansing oil and a cleansing balm?

Both are oil-based first cleansers designed to dissolve makeup, sunscreen and sebum before a water-based second cleanse. Oils like the DHC and Anua formulas pour as liquids and tend to feel lighter, while balms such as the e.l.f., JUNO & Co and HEIMISH options start as a solid that melts on contact with skin and are often favored for heavier or waterproof makeup. Choice mostly comes down to texture preference and how much makeup you wear.
