What's the difference between an impact driver and an impact wrench?

An impact driver uses a 1/4-inch hex collet and is designed for driving screws, lags, and small fasteners. An impact wrench uses a 1/2-inch (or 3/8-inch) square drive and is designed for high-torque nut-and-bolt work like lug nuts. They look similar but are not interchangeable.
