What's the difference between vegan leather and real leather journals?

Vegan (PU/faux) leather covers like those used by PAPERAGE and Beechmore are typically water-resistant, lighter, and cheaper, and they hold up well to daily carry. Real leather journals develop a patina over time and feel more substantial but cost more and can show water staining. For most everyday journalers, vegan leather is the better value; for keepsake or gift use, real leather is preferred.
