Which inkjet printer is best for photos?

For serious photo output, reviewers and r/photography contributors repeatedly point to the wide-format Epson EcoTank Photo ET-8550 and its A4 sibling the ET-8500, citing six-ink systems and lab-comparable results. They are slower than document printers and pricey, but the trust-weighted consensus rates their photo quality very highly.
