Why do some reviewers regret switching to thermal label printers?

In r/eBaySellerAdvice, at least one reviewer called the switch to a Bluetooth thermal model a waste of money and time, and r/Flipping threads describe trouble getting shipping-label sizing to behave in the companion app. Thermal printing is convenient and inkless, but app reliability and label-size configuration are recurring pain points.
