The consensus
What reviewers found
Synthesized across the trust-weighted source mix below.
Across the reviewers we read, the gold Hue Iris is the design-led pick of the Hue lineup. PCMag called it "a smart and stylish table lamp" and specifically flagged the latest version as brighter than its predecessor with Bluetooth for hub-free control. Best Buy verified-purchase reviewers (a high-trust retailer source) describe it as "one of the most beautiful Hue lamps in the line." A Crutchfield reviewer noted it's great "in the right place" but took several attempts to find a spot where it really fit.
What reviewers liked
- PCMag praised the design and brighter latest-generation output
- Best Buy verified-purchase reviewers consistently call it one of the best-looking lamps in the Hue range
- Works with Alexa, Google Assistant, and Apple HomeKit (with Bridge); Bluetooth control without one
- Screen sync and full Hue ecosystem integration noted across r/Hue threads
Where it falls short
- r/Hue users repeatedly note it doesn't get very bright and color accuracy is imperfect
- Premium price for what is fundamentally an accent uplight, not a task light
- Crutchfield reviewer noted it can be tricky to find a spot where the throw pattern looks right
- Full feature set (routines, HomeKit, away-from-home control) really requires a Hue Bridge purchase on top

r/Hue threads frame it consistently: solid Hue build quality, both white and color modes, screen sync support, but "doesn't get that bright" and color accuracy isn't perfect. It's an accent and mood light, not a task lamp. At roughly $120 for the gold finish it's also priced as a premium decorative object, which the Reddit consensus calls fair but not a bargain.

The latest version of the Philips Hue Iris Table Lamp is brighter than ever and features Bluetooth for hub-free control.
I have many, many hue products in my house and I love them. I own Nanoleaf, hue, LIFX, and a few other brands of smart lights (my entire home is outfitted with smart lights and other HomeKit compatible smart items). This was an addition to…
Like all Hue stuff it's a solid quality lamp, and you get both white LEDs and RGB (with screen sync) if you're interested in that.
Had one of these for awhile now. They definitely look cool. Doesn't get that bright though and colors aren't very accurate on them.
