What reviewers found
Synthesized across the trust-weighted source mix below.
Across the reviewers we read, the Garmin HRM 600 is the most feature-rich strap here, with a rechargeable battery, a detachable pod for washing, running dynamics, and stand-alone activity recording that high-trust r/Garmin members compare to a Whoop. the5krunner.com calls it a significant technical upgrade, particularly for watch-free recording. But the accuracy verdict is genuinely contested: an r/the5krunner analysis says it outperforms the Wahoo TRACKR yet falls short of H10 accuracy with significant systematic error, and a high-trust r/Garmin thread bluntly calls it much worse than the older HRM Pro Plus, to the point of being 'unusable' for some runs.
What reviewers liked
- Rechargeable battery and detachable pod praised for daily wear and washing
- Stand-alone recording, running dynamics and HRV data set it apart
- High 4.6 Amazon average and positive r/Garmin daily-wear feedback
- Swimming-capable per Garmin community recommendations
Where it falls short
- High-trust r/Garmin members report worse HR accuracy than the older HRM Pro Plus
- r/the5krunner analysis says accuracy falls short of the Polar H10
- One owner disliked the chest-strap feel and the constantly flashing LED
- The most expensive option here at around $170

- Sends accurate real-time heart rate and HRV data to compatible Garmin smartwatches and cycling computers, fitness equipment, and apps
- Comfortable machine-washable strap is available in two sizes (XS–S and M–XL) for the most ideal fit for your body type
- Understand how much you slow down when your foot hits the ground with step speed loss, and improve your running form with additional running dynamics, including stride length, vertical oscillation and ground contact time balance (requires compatible smartwatch)
- During activities where you can’t wear a watch, such as team sports, HRM 600 will record the workout and sync data, including heart rate, calories, speed, distance and more, directly to the Garmin Connect smartphone app
- Tracks daily metrics, including estimated steps, heart rate, calories burned and more, and syncs that data directly to the Garmin Connect smartphone app
- For indoor track and treadmill runs, HRM 600 sends pace and distance to your compatible smartwatch
- Provides and stores accurate heart rate data during swim activities and syncs it to your compatible smartwatch after you save your workout
- Up to 2 months of battery life with a rechargeable battery
It shows live heart rate, steps, and all the other basics you'd get on a watch. It's been pretty cool testing that part out and it works extremely well.
Also, it has a rechargeable battery, unclip mechanism to put it into wash machine which I find to be very great if you want to wear it daily.
