The consensus
What reviewers found
Synthesized across the trust-weighted source mix below.
Across the reviewers we read, the BESSEY EHK trigger clamp draws the most consistent praise of any clamp in this pool. protoolreviews.com called out the "super-comfortable trigger" and "outstanding clamping force," and verified-purchase shoppers at homedepot.com echoed the same points, citing deeper throat depth and better ergonomics than competing trigger clamps they had tried. r/woodworking threads specifically singled out the EHK as the trigger clamp users prefer over DeWalt and Irwin equivalents, primarily because of the smoother release mechanism.
What reviewers liked
- High-trust expert and community consensus on trigger comfort and clamping force at this tier
- Converts to spreader without disassembly, per protoolreviews.com
- Verified-purchase reviewers report minimal bar deflection compared to other trigger clamps
- Strong specialist-community preference over DeWalt and Irwin trigger equivalents
Where it falls short
- Reviewers consistently note trigger clamps in general can't replace parallel clamps for glue-ups
- r/Tools criticism of Bessey's broader budget lineup raises brand-consistency questions
- Throat depth, while deeper than competitors, is still limited compared to F-style or parallel clamps
- Higher per-clamp cost than no-name trigger clamp multi-packs

The disagreement worth surfacing: a separate r/Tools thread is sharply critical of Bessey's lower-tier clamps, calling out pads that fall off and dents in the workpiece. That criticism appears aimed at Bessey's budget line rather than the EHK series specifically, but it's a reminder that the Bessey badge alone isn't a quality guarantee. For the EHK specifically, community sentiment is that it's a step up from typical trigger clamps but still a trigger clamp—reviewers note these aren't a substitute for parallel clamps on serious glue-ups, where higher and more even pressure is needed.

They work fine for holding two things together while you attach fasteners. They don't work super well for proper woodworking though. Things like ...
I have a few of the heavy duty Jorgensen clamps. They're pretty good. Good quality and they apply sufficient pressure. I am yet to try the other brands.
