The consensus
What reviewers found
Synthesized across the trust-weighted source mix below.
Across the reviewers we read, the YIHUA 926 III is the perennial budget-beginner suggestion, and the sentiment is openly divided. On the positive side, r/soldering commenters report 'for the price it's been a solid device and has worked well,' note that 'at max setting they will keep enough heat for most small soldering jobs, including SMD,' and one thread says some people call it 'the best one to start with.' Its 4.4-star average over roughly 7,000 reviews and the bundled kit (helping hands, extra tips, solder sucker) reinforce the value framing. The contrary view is equally honest and comes from the same community.
What reviewers liked
- Inexpensive all-in-one kit with helping hands, extra tips and accessories
- r/soldering threads cite it as a viable first station that regulates temperature
- Large verified-purchase base (7,000+ reviews) at a budget price
Where it falls short
- Specialist commenters call the 900M-style tip and 60W rating dated
- Divided community: some r/soldering users call it 'a waste of money'
- Better-powered T12-style stations exist near the same price point

The contrary view is equally honest and comes from the same community. One r/soldering commenter argues the '926-III (60W theoretical, 3 generations old 900M tip) for $40 is a waste of money' and that better 100W options exist near $50; another says 'IMO these aren't worth the price, but there's nothing else to do the job for this price.' So the consensus is not that it's great, it's that it's an acceptable, well-equipped entry point with dated heater tech.
For a first station where the buyer wants everything in the box and isn't sure they'll stick with the hobby, the trust-weighted read is cautiously positive. Anyone who knows they'll solder regularly may want to spend a little more on a higher-power or T12-style unit.

For the price it's been a solid device and has worked well. Certainly better than an uncontrolled iron and it does regulate temperature.
it is pretty good. They are far from perfect, but at max setting they will keep enough heat for most small soldering jobs, including smd
