What reviewers found
Synthesized across the trust-weighted source mix below.
Across the reviewers we read, the DeWalt DWE7491X is the benchmark 10-inch jobsite saw that other portables get compared against. popularmechanics.com, a verified-tier source, highlights stability and accuracy as the headline strengths, and high-trust r/woodworking threads describe it as a 'good, accurate saw' with enough power and rip capacity to handle full sheet goods when paired with the scissor or rolling stand. YouTube comparisons frequently frame it head-to-head with the SKIL SPT99-11, with reviewers split on which they'd choose.
What reviewers liked
- popularmechanics.com calls out stability and accuracy as standout traits
- 32-1/2" rip capacity is unusually generous for a portable
- Rack-and-pinion fence draws consistent praise across high-trust subreddit threads
- Rolling/scissor stand is widely described as easy to set up solo
Where it falls short
- A medium-trust r/Dewalt thread documented a blade-loosening issue worth reading before purchase
- Heavier and bulkier than 8-1/4" jobsite saws when transport is the priority
- Pricier than the SKIL TS6307 without dramatically outperforming it in accuracy

The most important conflicting signal comes from r/Dewalt (medium-trust), where one detailed post warns against this specific model after a blade-loosening incident. That thread is a real datapoint and worth surfacing, though it runs counter to a much larger volume of positive expert and verified-purchase commentary and is not echoed in the high-trust threads. Mainstream tech and tool press generally treat the DWE7491 line as one of the most refined jobsite platforms available, with the 32-1/2" rip capacity and rack-and-pinion fence cited most often.
- Highlight 1
- Rack & pinion telescoping fence system make fence adjustments fast, smooth and accurate
- Highlight 2
- 32-1/2 In. Rip capacity easily cuts a variety of larger shelving and trim materials
- Highlight 3
- Two position flip-over rip fence allows for narrow rip cuts and material support
- Highlight 4
- Site-pro modular Guarding system allows for tool-free adjustments of Guarding components appropriate for each application
- Highlight 5
- 2-1/2 in. Dust collection port easily connects to a vacuum for efficient dust extraction
It's a good, accurate saw. It was hard at first as I downsized from a large delta that had room for a 4x8 sheet ripping on the long side.
I've got the DWE7485 and absolutely love it. It's only 8-1/4" but best I can tell from comparing images, the functionality is largely the same.
