What reviewers found
Synthesized across the trust-weighted source mix below.
Across the reviewers we read, the DEWALT DCL043 is the most consistently praised cordless work light in this pool. The Amazon listing carries a 4.8-star average over 20,000+ ratings, and verified-purchase reviewers on homedepot.com and walmart.com echo the same points: the 1,500-lumen output is genuinely bright, the pivoting head makes one-handed aiming easy, and battery life on standard 20V MAX packs is long enough for full work sessions. The r/flashlight thread cited in the signals is particularly telling — that community is hard to impress on tool-brand lights, but the DCL043 thread describes it as one of an all-time favorite, with reviewers specifically noting that the 1,500-lumen rating seems conservative and that the head doesn't get hot.
What reviewers liked
- 4.8-star average across 20,000+ Amazon reviews with strong corroboration on Home Depot and Walmart
- r/flashlight and r/Dewalt threads both rate it as a long-term favorite with no heat issues
- 1,500-lumen spotlight throws far enough for outdoor and large-area use
- Pivoting head and hook make hands-free placement easy
Where it falls short
- Sold as bare tool — battery and charger cost extra if not already on the 20V MAX platform
- Retailer reviewers note the tight spotlight beam is too focused for close-quarters work
- No built-in stand, so it relies on the magnet, hook, or being set down on its base
- Premium price compared with generic rechargeable magnetic lights

The main caveat surfaced in retailer reviews is the beam pattern: this is a focused spotlight, not a flood, so it throws extremely far (DEWALT claims 508 yards) but is too tight for close-up tasks where a diffused area light works better. It's also a bare tool — you need to already be on the 20V MAX platform or budget extra for a battery and charger.

No heat issues. · Very bright 1500 lumens though it always seems like more, or at least it exceeds other lights I've seen with the same spec.
It's the DCL050 light. Use it literally all the time and itnhas great run time. 1000 lumen max and works for several hours on the small 1.5 Ah packs.
