The consensus
What reviewers found
Synthesized across the trust-weighted source mix below.
The Shure SE215 is the most polarizing pick in this pool, and the reviewers we read disagree openly. High-trust testing from RTINGS rates it only 'alright' for neutral listening, calling the prominent bass and mid-range a bit boomy and cluttered. On r/headphones, sentiment splits sharply: some long-term owners praise present bass, punchy mids and 'fantastic isolation,' while others report the SE215 distorts easily and sounds cheap above moderate volume.
What reviewers liked
- High-trust community praise for class-leading noise isolation and secure fit
- Detachable cable and durable build favored by musicians for stage use
- Dynamic driver responds well to EQ, per community reviewers
Where it falls short
- RTINGS measured a boomy, cluttered, bass-heavy presentation
- High-trust r/headphones owners report easy distortion at higher volume
- Sound quality is genuinely divisive, described as both loved and hated by reviewers

Soundwise absolutely solid with good bass. The dd driver responds amazing to EQ and is therefore perfect for musicians. Durable, crazy isolation ...
I've had SE215s for a long time. At lower to mid volume they are good. Anything higher than that and they distort easy and sound really cheap.
