The consensus

What reviewers found

Synthesized across the trust-weighted source mix below.

Across the reviewers we read, the TP-Link Archer BE400 (sold as BE6500) is the most well-rounded single router in this pool because it pairs genuine Wi-Fi 7 hardware with a price that doesn't require a flagship budget. RTINGS, a high-trust testing lab, calls it a very good router for multi-level homes that delivers great speeds at short-to-medium distances with good overall range. Best Buy verified-purchase reviewers echo that, with one noting good range for a two-floor townhouse and notably better speeds at distance than their previous gateway.

What reviewers liked

  • RTINGS (high trust) rates it a very good router for multi-level homes with good range
  • Best Buy verified-purchase reviewers confirm strong speeds at distance
  • Dual 2.5 Gbps ports and quad-core CPU at a reasonable Wi-Fi 7 price
  • Strong Amazon track record (4.4 over ~1,200 reviews)

Where it falls short

  • Dual-band only, so no dedicated 6GHz band unlike tri-band rivals
  • Community threads caution that budget dual-band Wi-Fi 7 gains can be modest without compatible clients
  • Some users report needing firmware updates to fully stabilize newer TP-Link Wi-Fi 7 gear

The dual 2.5 Gbps ports and quad-core CPU draw praise across mainstream coverage for handling a typical busy household, and an r/HomeNetworking poster described upgrading from an ISP Wi-Fi 6E gateway and immediately seeing faster Wi-Fi. The main caveats are honest ones: it is a dual-band design, so it lacks the dedicated 6GHz band of tri-band units, and community threads note that cheaper dual-band Wi-Fi 7 routers in general can underwhelm if you expect the marketing numbers. As a balanced pick for most homes, though, the trust-weighted consensus lands clearly in its favor.

The price difference is just $20 and the BE9300 looks better in almost any way, however, my doubts come because it is older(2023) while the BE6500 was released ...

These are avg routers the mesh works with hardline backhaul. But it's very difficult to give all ips and such in IPv6 mode in wan to 40-60 devices.
