The consensus

What reviewers found

Synthesized across the trust-weighted source mix below.

Across the reviewers we read, the TP-Link Archer BE400 (BE6500) is the cheapest Wi-Fi 7 router that the high-trust crowd takes seriously. RTINGS describes it as delivering impressive wireless speeds that can take advantage of a roughly 1.5 Gbps internet connection, with dual 2.5 Gbps ports and a quad-core CPU. TweakTown and Dong Knows Tech frame it as 'Wi-Fi 7 on a budget' — solid for gigabit-plus broadband but with predictable compromises versus tri-band Wi-Fi 7 flagships.

What reviewers liked

  • RTINGS confirms it can saturate ~1.5 Gbps internet plans
  • Dual 2.5 Gbps ports rare at this price point
  • Quad-core CPU and USB 3.0 give it solid headroom
  • Cheapest Wi-Fi 7 router the high-trust outlets seriously recommend

Where it falls short

  • Dual-band only — no 6 GHz radio limits Wi-Fi 7 benefits
  • Reviewers note max throughput trails tri-band Wi-Fi 7 competitors
  • r/IndianGaming thread calls it 'average' for heavy mesh/IPv6 setups
  • HomeShield premium features locked behind subscription

Across the reviewers we read, the TP-Link Archer BE400 (BE6500) is the cheapest Wi-Fi 7 router that the high-trust crowd takes seriously. RTINGS describes it as delivering impressive wireless speeds that can take advantage of a roughly 1.5 Gbps internet connection, with dual 2.5 Gbps ports and a quad-core CPU. TweakTown and Dong Knows Tech frame it as 'Wi-Fi 7 on a budget' — solid for gigabit-plus broadband but with predictable compromises versus tri-band Wi-Fi 7 flagships.

r/HomeNetworking threads echo that framing. Owners coming from ISP gateways report meaningful real-world speed jumps after switching, while more demanding users point out it's dual-band rather than tri-band, so there's no dedicated 6 GHz radio and MLO benefits are limited. RTINGS and reviewers consistently note the maximum wireless throughput trails more expensive routers, which is expected for the price tier.

For a buyer who wants future-proofing into Wi-Fi 7 client devices without paying for a flagship, the consensus verdict is that this is the safe entry point. The Amazon rating of 4.4 across 1,000+ reviews corroborates the expert tier's lukewarm-but-positive take.

These are avg routers the mesh works with hardline backhaul. But it's very difficult to give all ips and such in IPv6 mode in wan to 40-60 devices.

The price difference is just $20 and the BE9300 looks better in almost any way, however, my doubts come because it is older(2023) while the BE6500 was released ...
