The consensus
What reviewers found
Synthesized across the trust-weighted source mix below.
Across the reviewers we read, the TaylorMade Tour Response is repeatedly positioned as 'premium at a better price.' golf.com explains its Speed Wrapped Core technology lessens core density to dampen sound and increase ball speed, and forum.mygolfspy.com (high trust) found the ball 'soft off the putter face,' rolling true with instant feedback on mishits thanks to the alignment graphics. The r/golf consensus, drawn from several high-trust threads, is consistently warm: reviewers call it 'one of my favorite low compression balls,' praise 'decent driver distance, good spin on the short irons and wedges, good feel off the putter,' and note it offers premium feel at a friendlier price point. Several frame it as a smart choice for players who like a softer feel or want to spend less without dropping to a two-piece distance ball.
What reviewers liked
- Consistently described across r/golf as 'premium at a better price' near $28 a dozen
- forum.mygolfspy.com praised soft putter feel and true roll with helpful alignment aid
- High-trust community reports of good short-iron and wedge spin
- Solid verified-purchase rating (4.7 across ~651 reviews)
Where it falls short
- Lacks the independent lab grades that anchor the top tour-ball picks
- Lower-compression, lower-spin profile may not suit faster swing speeds
- Some reviewers treat it as a value ball to lose rather than a tour-level performer
- Feel and performance praise leans more on community sentiment than measured data

The honest limitations: it lacks the independent lab grades that anchor the Pro V1 and Chrome Tour, so the evidence here leans more on community and forum sentiment than hard testing data. A couple of reviewers note it's a lower-spin, lower-compression ball that may not suit faster swings seeking maximum greenside bite, and one candid r/golf comment admits the price matters partly because 'they're cheap enough to fund my ball losing habit.'

I've played 2 rounds with it that have both gone very well. Have not had a noticeable loss of driver distance and accuracy seems to be better.
Decent driver distance, good spin on the short irons and wedges, good feel off the putter. Best round to date was played with the Kirkland ...
