The disagreement worth surfacing: high-trust r/Tools commenters flag that it can be "underpowered" compared with the 3.0-amp DeWalt, and one r/woodworking voice frames it bluntly as "really only for finish sanding and nothing else" — excellent at that job, but not a heavy stock-removal tool. That framing actually clarifies who it's for.
Reviewers consistently like the included carrying bag and the smooth, low-vibration feel that makes long finishing sessions tolerable. The honest trade-offs are the modest 2.5-amp motor, the finish-first personality, and the usual caveat that dust performance is best with a vacuum and mesh discs. For shoppers prioritizing comfort and clean results over brute removal, the consensus is very positive.
- The variable speed dial allows this electric sander to match the speed to work piece and task
- Easy Disc Attachment
- Through BOSCH's signature Hook and Loop disc attachment system, sanding pads stick to the hand sander like a Velcro-adhesion material
- Hook-and-loop disc attachment for random orbital sanders contains over 35,000 long-life hooks to ensure firm grip of the disc
- 2.5-Amp
- Wood sander delivers 7,500-12,000 OPM for smooth sanding performance
- Dust Collection
- This BOSCH sander features a vacuum dust collector and micro filter system for fine dust and particles as small as 1/2-micron in diameter; dust canister shows dust level and detaches easily for mess-free tasks
- Variable Speed Control
- Powerful 2.5 AMP motor in this power sander allows easy speed adjustment for different work pieces and sanding tasks; no-load OPM: 7,500-12,000
- Smooth Finish
- BOSCH orbital sander with a pad dampening system designed to help minimize swirl marks on flat and contoured surfaces
- Twist-Off Dust Canister
- Durable, compact canister on this handheld sander shows dust level and easily detaches
It is really only for finish sanding and nothing else, but it's a very nice sander if you use it as intended.
I have been using the bosch VSROS for like 5 years, it has served me very well. Definitely the best option before jumping up to a mirka/festool.
