All I had to do was rotate the blades (they come with two edges). Oiled up a bit of rust. Ran some maple through it like butter. No regrets.
The tool does function. It has planed full 12 inches of multiple hardwoods like walnut, maple, purple heart, cherry, and birch and makes a nice clean surface.
