Across the reviewers we read, the DEWALT DWP611 is the consensus pick for a precise, controllable compact router. High-trust r/Dewalt commenters describe the palm router as 'surprisingly powerful and easy to control,' noting a healthy accessory ecosystem including a plunge base and dust shield. r/woodworking users praise it as a bang-for-the-buck workhorse. The recurring caveat from high-trust and supporting community sources is that it's fundamentally a compact/trim-class router that only accepts 1/4-inch shank bits, so reviewers steer buyers toward a full-size machine for heavier work.

It came with a fixed base. I have no gripes about any of these routers and would buy again given the choice. I would consider going to a 3 hp ...
Love the dewalt for sure. But it goes with all my batteries. Get the compact for whatever you have batteries for.
